# Protect PDF

**Protect PDF** encrypts a PDF file with a password so only people who know the password can open it — right in your browser, no account required.

### **How to Use**

The process is simple and consists of three basic steps:

#### **Step 1: Upload Your File**

* Go to **PDF Tools** and select **"Protect PDF."**
* Drag and drop a PDF file into the upload area, or click to browse your computer.

#### **Step 2: Set a Password**

* Type the password you want to use to lock the file into the **Password** field.

*📌 **Note:** Protect PDF is completely free and does not require an account. Keep your password safe — anyone who wants to open the file will need it.*
